Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program in 2026, measure by measure

What the program pays, to whom, under what conditions and how fast, checked against the official sources. With a checker for your house.

The Toiture & Isolation Provinciale team · Updated

LogisVert is Hydro-Québec's program that pays a grant, by cheque and after the work, for seven energy efficiency measures at home. For the attic, it is $1,500 when the whole roof surface reaches R-50 and the house is caulked, eight items included. The measure is for the owner of a house heated mainly with electricity, once per house. You apply online within nine months, and the cheque arrives 10 to 12 weeks after a complete application.

What is the LogisVert program?

Hydro-Québec created LogisVert to subsidize energy efficiency measures in Quebec homes. In English, Hydro-Québec calls it the LogisVert Efficient Homes Program. Individuals go through the residential stream. You have the work done or the equipment installed, you pay the invoice, then you apply online, and Hydro-Québec mails you a cheque. The residential stream has seven measures in 2026.

Multiple measures bonus5% more on the totalAllAt least two different measures in a single application

The grant never exceeds the purchase and installation cost before taxes, or 40% of that cost for solar. A “Multi-unit” bonus also applies to some wall-mounted heat pumps in rental buildings located in energy poverty areas. We do not install heat pumps, appliances, pool equipment or solar panels. Their full conditions are on Hydro-Québec's LogisVert page, and the calculation tool on the logisvert.ca portal estimates your amount before you buy.

LogisVert participant's guide, version 1.10, section 2.3 and appendices I and II.

The program's other streams

Under the “Installation company” stream, some central heating systems, such as a heat storage unit or a geothermal heat pump, are subsidized directly on the installer's invoice, with nothing for you to file. Another stream covers companies that build new homes, another covers housing offices, and the low-income households stream provides a free wall-mounted heat pump; its registrations for 2026-2027 are closed.

What LogisVert does not pay for

The residential stream pays for no new windows or doors, no walls, foundations or basements, and no water heaters, thermostats or batteries. Roof replacement, decontamination and vermiculite removal are not on the list either. Walls, foundations and windows fall under Rénoclimat, the Quebec government's program. For the basement, see our page on spray foam; for a contaminated attic, our decontamination service.

How much does LogisVert pay to insulate an attic?

LogisVert pays a fixed $1,500 when both the roof insulation and the caulking of the house are done and every program requirement is met. The amount depends neither on the size of the attic nor on the insulation already in place. If one of the two jobs is missing, the measure pays nothing. Roof insulation alone or caulking alone does not qualify.

Two rules frame that amount. The grant cannot exceed the cost of the work before taxes. And it goes up by 5% when a single application groups at least two different measures, such as roof insulation and a heat pump, carried out within nine months. In Hydro-Québec's example, a 5% bonus on a $1,000 grant brings the payment to $1,050.

Guide v1.10, sections 2.3, 2.4.1 and 2.7, appendix I (p. 11); FAQ of the logisvert.ca portal.

What conditions must the house and the work meet?

All the conditions below apply together. They come from appendix I of the participant's guide, which prevails, and from the measure's page on Hydro-Québec's website.

Quotes from the English version of the guide (version 1.10) and of Hydro-Québec's page. The French version is the original.

The house

The measure is for the owner of a single-family, semi-detached, row or mobile home, or a cottage. A row house held in co-ownership counts as a house. The portal's FAQ makes it eligible for every measure meant for house owners. The house must be in Quebec, completed, habitable year-round and heated mainly with electricity, whether it is supplied by Hydro-Québec or by a municipal, cooperative or off-grid system. A garage, shed or outbuilding that is not permanently attached to the house is not part of it.

A roof at R-50 over its whole surface

After the work, the roof must have a thermal resistance of at least R-50 (RSI 8.8), and 100% of its surface must be insulated, with fibreglass or an equivalent insulation. The guide makes no exception for a cathedral ceiling, a flat roof or an addition. Every part of the roof must reach the value. R-50 is also the value we aim for in every attic we insulate, and the one that must then appear on the invoice.

Eight items to caulk, even if they don't leak

The caulking must cover every spot in the house that lets air through, plus eight items named by Hydro-Québec, whether or not they leak.

The eight items, room by room
ItemWhere to find it in the house
WindowsAround each window, from the basement to the top floor
Exterior doorsThe front door, the back door, the side door
Patio doorsThe patio door that opens onto the yard or the balcony
Attic hatchesThe ceiling opening that leads to the attic, often in a closet or a hallway
Range hoodsThe kitchen hood and its vent to the outside
Bathroom fansThe ceiling or wall fan in each bathroom
Electrical outletsThe outlets on the walls of the house
FireplacesThe fireplace and its surround, if there is one

Installing new windows or doors does not count as caulking. According to Hydro-Québec, air and ventilation leaks can account for up to 25% of a home's heat loss (LogisVert page). Warm air escaping into the attic also carries moisture up there, which is the subject of our article on attic condensation.

Guide v1.10, appendix I, p. 10; measure page on logisvert.ca.

An RBQ-licensed company, subclass 7.0

Both jobs must be done by a company registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec, holding a Régie du bâtiment du Québec licence with subclass 7.0 (insulating, waterproofing, roofing and siding). If two companies share the insulation and the caulking, the application gives each one's licence number. Hydro-Québec recommends checking the licence in the RBQ registry. Ours, 5839-3208-01, is active, includes that subclass and appears on every invoice.

The guide provides for no registration of companies with the program for this measure, and Hydro-Québec says it works with no company other than its service provider. A company that calls itself “registered with the program” or a Hydro-Québec “partner” gives you a reason to ask questions.

What rules the measure out

The measure does not apply to a tenant, who is eligible only for the induction range and the dryer, or to a condominium apartment, a duplex, a triplex or an apartment building. It also excludes a house heated mainly with gas, oil, propane or wood, a detached building such as a garage, and a house that has already received it.

Does your house meet the conditions?

The checker turns the official conditions into eight questions. It tells you whether something rules the measure out, what remains to be confirmed and, if the work is done, your deadline. It does not replace Hydro-Québec's decision, which is made on a complete application.

How do you put together a complete LogisVert file?

Hydro-Québec decides on the documents. A complete file comes down to three things: invoices that carry every required detail, a proof of ownership, and a participant profile in your name on the logisvert.ca portal.

What the invoices must show

The guide lists the details for each of the two jobs, and they are almost the same. Only the description of what was done differs.

Documents and numbers to provide

  • Proof of ownership: the municipal tax bill or the first page of the deed of sale, as an electronic copy. A member of an Indigenous community provides an electricity bill in their name or a letter from the band council instead.
  • Your Hydro-Québec customer and meter numbers, printed on your electricity bill. The customer number has 9 digits and starts with 1. You do not have to attach the bill.
  • The RBQ licence number of each company that did the work.
  • The same first and last name everywhere: participant profile, invoices and proof of ownership. The grant is paid only to the owner.
  • No photos. This measure's requirements ask for none, unlike those for appliances.

What we prepare, and what stays in your name

Before the work, we check the house's eligibility with you: the type of dwelling, the heating, the roof and any grant already received. If part of the roof cannot reach R-50, we tell you during the visit, before you sign. After the work, we hand you the invoices with every required detail, paid-in-full statement included, then we prepare the application on the portal and file it with you.

The participant profile stays in your name. You provide your tax bill or deed of sale, and your customer and meter numbers. If Hydro-Québec asks for your SIN, you give it to Hydro-Québec directly, through the secure channel it indicates, never by email. And if it asks for documents or a visit, it contacts you.

The end-of-work report in our Dossier Provincial, with before, during and after photos and measurements, is not required by Hydro-Québec. It is useful the day it asks for proof or comes to see the work. Since the cheque comes after the work, you can pay for the work with our financing (from $17/month, 3 months no payments and no interest, subject to credit approval).

A call or a visit on behalf of Hydro-Québec?

Hydro-Québec never does telephone or door-to-door solicitation for LogisVert, and works with no company other than its service provider, Groupe Marketing International. An offer you did not ask for, made in its name, is probably a fraud. We never speak on behalf of Hydro-Québec. If in doubt, call LogisVert Program Support at 1 833 396-1888.

How long does it take to apply and get the cheque?

You apply online no later than nine months after the measure is completed. An incomplete application is flagged within about 20 business days. Once the application is complete, allow 10 to 12 weeks of processing. Payment then comes by cheque, by mail, sent to the mailing address on the application.

Before the work

  1. Check that the house qualifies

The checker covers it. If in doubt, LogisVert Program Support answers at 1 833 396-1888, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  2. Choose the company

Registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec, with an RBQ licence including subclass 7.0, to check in the RBQ registry.

  3. Have the roof measured

R-50 applies to every part of the roof. Better to know before signing if one of them is a problem.

During the work

  1. Insulate the whole roof surface

At least R-50 (RSI 8.8) everywhere, with a material that poses no health hazard.

  2. Caulk the house

The eight items, even if they don't leak, and every spot that lets air through.

  3. Get the invoices

With every required detail and a statement that they are paid in full.

After the work

  1. Submit the application online

On the logisvert.ca portal only. An application sent by email or by mail is not processed.

No later than 9 months after completion
  2. Complete an incomplete application

If a detail or a document is missing, Hydro-Québec emails or calls you, and processing can take longer than 12 weeks.

Notice within about 20 business days
  3. Processing

The clock starts when a complete application is received. Depending on your situation, Hydro-Québec asks for your SIN after confirming eligibility, through a secure channel.

    10 to 12 weeks
  4. Possible verification

You agree to give access to the house within six months of the application. Hydro-Québec can also ask for additional documents.

  5. Cheque received

Sent to the mailing address on the application. Hydro-Québec does not offer direct deposit. Tell Program Support if you move.

    By mail

An example. Work completed on November 15, 2026 must be the subject of an application no later than August 15, 2027.

A complete application received on December 1, 2026 should be processed between February 9 and February 23, 2027. The cheque is then mailed.

Which mistakes get an application refused or delayed?

On the paperwork side, the guide and the portal name these situations, which lead to a refusal, a repayment or a delay.

  • A name that changes from one document to the next. The first and last name on the profile, the invoices and the proof of ownership must be identical.
  • A purchase order or a contract instead of an invoice. Neither is accepted as proof.
  • An incomplete invoice, with no statement that it is paid in full, no new insulation value for the roof or no itemized list of the caulking.
  • A missing or unreadable document. The portal warns that an application without every required document will be refused.
  • An application sent by email or by mail. It is not processed, only the portal counts.
  • More than nine months between the completion of the measure and the application.
  • Only one of the two jobs, insulation without caulking or the reverse, or caulking limited to visible leaks.
  • A company without subclass 7.0, or work you did yourself.
  • A grant already received for the same work, from Rénoclimat or another agency. The grant would be refused, or clawed back if it was paid.

Row house, cottage, garage, dual energy: what do the sources say?

For each of these cases, here is what the official sources say, or don't. When they don't settle it, only LogisVert Program Support can confirm your case, at 1 833 396-1888.

Special cases
SituationWhat the sources sayIn practice
Row house held in co-ownershipThe portal's FAQ makes it eligible for every measure meant for house owners.Same conditions as a house.
CottageThe guide accepts a “cottage-type” house if it is habitable year-round.Eligible if it is habitable all year and heated mainly with electricity.
Detached garage, shed or outbuildingA building not permanently attached to the house is not part of it, except for solar panels (guide, section 2.2).No grant to insulate them.
Attached garage, addition, cathedral ceilingThe guide requires R-50 over 100% of the roof surface, without detailing these parts.Plan for R-50 everywhere. For the roof of an attached garage, confirm at 1 833 396-1888 before the work.
Owner who does not live in the houseThe portal's FAQ accepts the application, with the owner's customer number. The guide provides for an RL-27 slip for property that earns income.Possible. Have your NEQ, QST number or SIN ready.
New houseThe FAQ accepts it, with a purchase and installation invoice in your name; construction must be completed.Same conditions as any other house.
Roof and caulking measure already receivedOnly once per dwelling (guide, appendix I).No further grant for this measure, even after a purchase.
Old “very high efficiency heat pump and caulking” measureWithdrawn on August 25, 2025. The portal's FAQ says only one measure that includes caulking can be carried out in a house.Probably excluded, not certain. Confirm at 1 833 396-1888.
Dual energyThe guide requires electricity as the main heating source, without defining it. On its Rate DT page (in French), Hydro-Québec describes dual energy as electricity as the main source, with a backup fuel.Likely, never stated for LogisVert. Confirm at 1 833 396-1888.
TenantOnly the induction range and the heat pump dryer (guide, section 2.3).The owner can apply for the roof measure.
Vermiculite in the atticThe guide requires materials that pose no health risk, and says nothing about vermiculite already in place. Removing it is not a program measure. It is removed before insulating, outside the grant. See our decontamination page.

LogisVert or Rénoclimat for the attic?

For a house heated mainly with electricity, both programs can pay for attic insulation, but never both for the same work. They do not ask for the same thing.

Both programs for an attic
CriterionLogisVertRénoclimat, since October 1, 2026
Grant for the attic$1,500, fixed amount$1.75 per sq ft, up to $2,000 for a house
Value to reachR-50 over the whole roofR-60 in the attic, with at least R-20 added, over 300 sq ft or more
CaulkingRequired, included in the $1,500Neither required nor paid

At $1.75 per square foot, Rénoclimat passes $1,500 beyond about 860 sq ft insulated. For a 1,000 sq ft attic brought to R-60, the calculation gives $1,750, without exceeding the cost of the work before taxes. Rénoclimat sets no heating condition and accepts duplexes and triplexes.

To combine the two on different work, for example the roof with LogisVert and spray foam on the foundation with Rénoclimat, the rule is not settled. LogisVert only rules out double funding for the same work, but the Rénoclimat guide bans in general terms any combination with aid from a Crown corporation such as Hydro-Québec. Have Rénoclimat confirm your case, at 1 866 266-0008, before you start.

The criterion-by-criterion comparison, with the steps for each program, is in our LogisVert or Rénoclimat for the attic guide.

What has changed in LogisVert since 2025?

Many pages about LogisVert still describe measures that no longer exist. The table follows the changes in order.

LogisVert, 2025-2026
DateWhat changed
January 20, 2025The guide (version 1.3) already requires caulking of today's eight items, “whether or not they leak”. The 2023 list was different.
March 31, 2025The efficient pool pump replaces the former measure that included solar thermal collectors.
August 25, 2025The “very high efficiency heat pump and caulking” measure is withdrawn; geothermal heat pump replacement is added.
November 26, 2025Heat pumps must be ENERGY STAR certified. The guide specifies that new windows or doors do not count as caulking, and that a detached building is not part of the dwelling.
March 31, 2026Solar panels enter the guide. The Quebec government's Chauffez vert program, for oil and propane, ends the same day.
June 15, 2026“Multi-unit” bonus for some wall-mounted heat pumps.
September 15, 2026Version 1.10 of the guide, now in force: solar panels allowed on a detached building, announced end of the pool pump.
October 1, 2026Rénoclimat is rebuilt: optional energy assessment, attic brought to R-60, $1.75 per sq ft.
October 8, 2026The federal government announces heat pump grants starting in 2027, without details. LogisVert remains in force.
November 30, 2026End of the efficient pool pump; application by March 1, 2027.

The amount for roof insulation and caulking, $1,500, has not changed since the first version of the guide, dated January 1, 2023. If an article gives you a different list of items to caulk, or a measure that no longer exists, check its date.

FAQ

Your LogisVert questions

How long does it take to receive the LogisVert cheque?

Allow 10 to 12 weeks after a complete application, meaning every detail is accurate and every document readable. If something is missing, Hydro-Québec emails you about 20 business days after you apply, and processing can take longer than 12 weeks. The grant arrives by cheque, by mail, at the mailing address on the application. There is no direct deposit.

Do I need an energy assessment for LogisVert?

No. Neither the participant's guide nor the measure's page asks for one, before or after the work. The proof is the invoices, which must show the roof's new insulation value and an itemized list of the caulking. Rénoclimat no longer requires one either since October 1, 2026. It is optional there, and refunded up to $500 when it comes with an application for work.

Can a condo or a duplex get the insulation grant?

No. The roof insulation and caulking measure covers houses only: single-family, semi-detached, row, mobile or cottage. A row house held in co-ownership counts as a house. For a duplex or a triplex, Rénoclimat applies, with an attic brought to R-60. In a divided co-ownership building, Rénoclimat pays the grant to the syndicate of co-owners.

Does my cottage or my detached garage qualify?

The cottage, yes, if you own it, it is habitable year-round and it is heated mainly with electricity. The detached garage, no: the guide excludes any building that is not permanently attached to the house, such as a garage, a shed or an outbuilding. Only solar panels are an exception to that rule.

My house uses dual energy or wood heating. Do I qualify?

With wood, gas, oil or propane as the main heating, no: the measure requires electricity to be the main heating source. Dual energy is a case the guide does not settle. Hydro-Québec describes it elsewhere as a system where electricity is the main source and a fuel the backup, but the program does not say so. Have your case confirmed at 1 833 396-1888 before the work.

Does the caulking have to cover the whole house?

Yes. It must cover every spot that lets air through, plus eight items even if they don't leak: windows, exterior doors, patio doors, attic hatches, range hoods, bathroom fans, electrical outlets and fireplaces. Installing new windows or doors does not count as caulking. Without that complete caulking, roof insulation alone qualifies for nothing.

Can LogisVert and Rénoclimat be combined?

Never for the same work. If your LogisVert application is accepted, you agree not to apply for any other grant for that work, and a grant received twice must be paid back. For different work, such as the roof with LogisVert and the foundation with Rénoclimat, LogisVert does not forbid it, but the Rénoclimat guide bans in general terms any combination with aid from a Crown corporation. Confirm at 1 866 266-0008 before you start.

My work was done last year. Is it too late?

It depends on the date. The application must be submitted no later than nine months after the measure is completed. For example, work completed on November 15, 2026 must be filed by August 15, 2027. Older articles mention work eligible since January 1, 2023; that launch rule no longer applies. The checker on this page calculates your deadline.

Why does Hydro-Québec ask for my social insurance number?

To issue the RL-27 slip, Hydro-Québec needs your SIN, your NEQ or your QST number, depending on your situation. It asks only after confirming eligibility, with instructions to send it securely, and does not keep it once the grant is paid. Never send your SIN by email. Received for personal purposes, the grant is not taxable, according to the program's FAQ.

Can Hydro-Québec come to check the work?

Yes. When you apply, you agree to give it access to the house within the following six months, to see the work, and to provide any additional documents it asks for. The house must therefore match the invoices: the insulation value reached and the caulking described. Our end-of-work report, with photos and measurements, is useful at that point, even though Hydro-Québec does not require it.

I bought a house already insulated with LogisVert. Can I apply again?

No, if the house already received the roof insulation and caulking measure: it is eligible only once per dwelling, even with a new owner. If it received the old very high efficiency heat pump and caulking measure instead, withdrawn on August 25, 2025, the portal's FAQ suggests only one measure with caulking is possible per house. Confirm at 1 833 396-1888.

Someone is calling me on behalf of Hydro-Québec about LogisVert. Is that normal?

No. Hydro-Québec never does telephone or door-to-door solicitation for LogisVert, and works with a single service provider, Groupe Marketing International. An unsolicited offer made in its name is probably a fraud. Toiture & Isolation Provinciale is not Hydro-Québec. We are an RBQ-licensed contractor and never speak on its behalf. If in doubt, call 1 833 396-1888.

Is the LogisVert portal available in English?

No. Hydro-Québec states that the LogisVert web portal is only available in French. The participant's guide exists in English, and LogisVert Program Support can be reached at 1 833 396-1888, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The glossary on this page matches the portal's French terms with their meaning.
