Attic decontamination, done safely

Removal of vermiculite, asbestos and mould, extraction and restoration — by the book.

Vermiculite, asbestos, mould: these contaminants demand safe, controlled, documented removal. We do it by the book.

Vermiculite and asbestos

Many pre-1990 attics contain vermiculite that may hold asbestos. We perform a safe removal with containment, protective equipment and compliant handling of hazardous materials.

Extraction and restoration

After decontamination, we extract the contaminated insulation, sanitize the attic, then re-insulate to R-50. You end up with an attic that is healthy and high-performing.

Mould

A leaking roof or deficient ventilation causes mould. We treat the cause (roof, ventilation) and the effect (sanitizing), to prevent recurrence.

Our protocol

A controlled removal, from plan to final report

Decontamination can't be improvised — here is our protocol.

1

Assessment & work plan

We inspect the attic, evaluate the contamination and set a precise removal plan — you know exactly what will be done, and how.

2

Containment & protection

Sealed zone, controlled pressure, protective equipment: nothing circulates between the job site and your living space.

3

Removal & compliant disposal

Industrial vacuum extraction, regulated bagging and disposal of materials per current standards. Everything is traced.

4

Sanitizing & restoration

We sanitize the attic, then re-insulate to R-50. You end up with an attic that is healthy AND high-performing — documented with photos.

FAQ

Your vermiculite and asbestos questions

How do I know if my vermiculite contains asbestos?

Impossible to tell by eye — only a laboratory analysis can confirm it. Until then, the golden rule: don't disturb it. No work in the attic, no handling. We guide you through safe sampling.

Is it dangerous to leave vermiculite in place?

Undisturbed, it presents a limited risk. The problem starts as soon as you touch it: renovations, running wires, roofing work. It also often complicates insurance and resale — many of our clients remove it when selling or renovating.

Do I have to leave the house during the work?

The job site is contained and under control: the work zone is isolated from the rest of the house. We give you the exact instructions based on the scope, before starting — no surprises on the morning of.

What happens after the removal?

That's where it pays off: sanitized attic, sealed air leaks, new insulation to R-50. You go from a contaminated, under-insulated attic to a healthy, high-performing one — in a single project.

Do you also handle mould?

Yes. And above all, we treat the cause (roof leak, poor ventilation) at the same time as the effect — otherwise mould comes back. That's the advantage of a specialist who also does roofing and ventilation.
