Insulation Grants 2026: LogisVert and Rénoclimat

Insulating your attic is one of the best-subsidized home improvements in Quebec, provided you pick the right program and meet all its conditions. Here are the 2026 rules, taken from the official guides, and what we do for you.

How much does LogisVert pay?

For insulation, Hydro-Québec's LogisVert pays a fixed $1,500 when the work covers two parts: roof insulation (the attic) and air sealing of the house. One without the other qualifies for nothing. The amount can't exceed the pre-tax cost of the work, and it goes up by 5% when the same application includes another LogisVert measure. No energy assessment is required before the work, which makes it the simplest program.

Who is eligible?

You own a house lived in year-round: single-family, semi-detached, row house, mobile home or cottage. Condos and plexes don't qualify.
The house is heated mainly with electricity, by the Hydro-Québec grid or by a municipal, cooperative or autonomous grid.
The grant is paid once per dwelling.

What the work must achieve

The whole roof surface reaches at least R-50 (RSI 8.8) after the work. That's the value we aim for in every attic.
Air sealing covers the eight required items, whether or not they leak: windows, exterior doors, patio doors, attic hatches, range hoods, bathroom fans, electrical outlets and fireplaces.
The work is done by a business registered with the Quebec enterprise register holding an RBQ licence, subcategory 7.0. Ours, 5839-3208-01, appears on every invoice.

These requirements are already part of our method: our insulation work is measured on site and described in a fixed-price contract detailed by the square foot.

How the application works

You apply online, no later than 9 months after the work, with proof of ownership and the paid invoices. The invoice shows the contractor's RBQ licence number, GST and QST numbers, the insulation installed and the new insulation value. No photos are required. Hydro-Québec mails the amount 10 to 12 weeks after a complete application.

Rénoclimat, mainly for a nearly empty attic

The Quebec government's Rénoclimat program pays up to $1,500 for roof insulation, but only if the insulation in place before the work is R-12 or less and the roof reaches R-50 after. Above R-12 and up to R-25, the help is $750; above R-25 and up to R-35, it is $250.

Rénoclimat also requires an energy assessment before and after the work, by a recognized advisor. Anything started before the first assessment is refused. That assessment costs $150 plus taxes, refunded with the grant; the one after the work is free.

In most attics we insulate, the insulation in place is already above R-12. For the roof, LogisVert then pays at least twice as much. Rénoclimat becomes worthwhile when the project also covers the walls (up to $3,750) or several parts of the house, with a $20,000 cap per house.

Can the two programs be combined?

Not for the same work: both guides rule it out. For separate work, the guides don't settle it clearly; have Rénoclimat confirm it before you start. In most cases, LogisVert is the simplest choice; when Rénoclimat is worth it, we tell you. That analysis is part of our support, free of charge.
